Still another research paper has only been published that shows the plant based chemicals will help to contain the fragile bone disease, osteoporosis.
The endocannabinoid process is a set of cell receptors that cbd & cannabis payment processing are actuated by a group of endogenous lipids as well as compounds derived from the cannabis plant. The cannabinoid receptors are involved in an assortment of physiological processes including appetite control, headache, memory and mood. Recent studies have shown that the endocannabinoid system has a strong influence on bone metabolism, whilst the receptors have been well represented on osteoclasts – cells whose principal function is to resorb (thin out) bone.
Bone is an active, living tissue which has been continuously formed, remodeled and formed response to the physiological and physical needs of the body. Bone matrix consists primarily of the macronutrients magnesium, calcium and phosphate and is the material which makes both the dense regions of the bone and the bone marrow framework. Many people still feel that if a person eats foods rich in these minerals chances are they are going to avoid osteoporosis. Epidemiological and other evidence shows this is not necessarily the case.
The creation and resorbtion of bone matrix has been controlled by two main cell types:
1) Osteoblasts are bone cells which are responsible for the creation of bone matrix
2) Osteoclasts are modified white blood cells responsible for the resorption of bone tissues.
Both of these cell types are commanded by a complex pair of signaling proteins, hormones and cell receptors which respond to the ever changing demands on bone tissues along with other physiological procedures. Whether you can find too many osteoclasts, or whether these cells eventually become overactive, then they will resorb more matrix than the osteoblasts could produce. A predominance of osteoclast activity results in the bone becoming less dense – that the primary feature of this clinical condition known as osteoporosis.
The Aberdeen scientists have discovered that cannabidiol binds to a particular cannabinoid receptor over the bone-resorbing osteoblast cells. By so doing it inhibits these cells from resorbing the bone marrow – thereby helping to prevent additional weakening of their bones.
This really isn’t the first time that plant compounds are demonstrated to influence bone metabolism in favour of stronger bones.
For anyone that expect that smoking bud helps to strengthen their bones, they can do this in vain. Although wild cannabis contains as much as 40% cannabidiol, cultivated varieties feature hardly any with this chemical. The key point arising from the research, in my own estimation, is that it shows just how vital plant compounds come from preventing chronic degenerative diseases such as osteoporosis. There are bound to be several other phyto nutrients in additional food plants with a positive effect on bone metabolism – so they’ve not been”discovered” yet.
While we wait patiently for this research to be taken out, it is important to eat (not smoke) that a broad range of vegetables, spices and fruit to guarantee a sufficient intake of a range of beneficial phytonutrients.
